Leading the way in delivering mixed tenure with affordable retirement living options for Canberra’s seniors.
Goodwin Aged Care Services is pleased to announce the recent purchase of land in Downer, ACT, with intention to develop an innovative retirement village that offers both high-quality and affordable residences.
In a partnership which is understood to be the first of its kind in Australia, Goodwin Aged Care Services and community housing provider, Community Housing Canberra (CHC), are set to deliver high-quality residences while addressing the needs of the community.
Goodwin will design, construct and operate the development, with a number of units reserved for CHC to provide low-income housing for seniors in need.
Goodwin CEO Sue Levy said she is proud that Goodwin is not only able to offer a new development in Canberra’s Inner North but is also able to address the growing issue of housing affordability for seniors in the ACT.
‘Goodwin takes its role as a community leader in retirement living and aged care very seriously. As a not-for-profit community organisation, every dollar earned is reinvested into the organisation to continue serving the community’ said Ms Levy.
‘We strive for our services to be of the highest quality, while also being accessible to everyone who needs them, and this project is an excellent example of both quality and affordability.’
The village will set a new precedent by providing CHC clients with access to premium facilities such as Goodwin’s, and providing affordable housing within a dedicated community of seniors where residents are in the safety and social circles of neighbours in similar stages of life.
The land has only been recently purchased by Goodwin. Community consultation and project design will commence this year.
